I first bought the business sixteen years ago, when I was 30. It was 400 square feet on the Upper West Side in a little storefront that had five chairs and two shampoo sinks. You had to crawl over the people to get to the bathroom.
Now I have four salons—three Lifestyle Salons and Spas, and one Concept Salon. You know, to turn around and look at 200 people that work for you and think that they make their life decisions, plans and dreams based upon my business decisions is pretty powerful. When they grow I grow, so we grow together.
Aveda education plays a huge part in the creative side of my business. I have purefessional™ educators on my staff as well as in-salon coaches that bring back inspiration and new ideas to the main core of my team, constantly inspiring my staff to think out of the box.
